Hello, I'm a newbie here

I'm replacing the bearing/seal and shaft to my cabrio because it's leaking water from the bottom and it also has oily/grease in the water. I have the new kit ready to go and I'm having trouble removing the shaft from the bottom as per instructions. I've even followed a youtube vid and still no luck. I've done everything your suppose to do, removing all bolts and nuts. I've been striking the bottom (from underneath) of the shaft with no luck. All the videos and instructions I've read or watched make it look like a couple of wacks with a hammer and your able to pull it out from the top... well I can't. Is this shaft rusted together inside ? I'm afraid to hit any harder as to doing some sort of damage. The shaft is already starting to mushroom out...... HELP !!!

Thanks

Jake

Did you also order the bearing driver installation tool that comes with a removal rod to remove the old shaft?

There is a kit for this now that comes with complete instructions and a "HOW TO" video in both part links below:

Outer tub and drive shaft repair kit:
Tub Seal and Bearing Kit W10435302

You will also need the Bearing and seal tool:

Hey Jake, Thanks for responding back. I actually figured out what I was doing. The instruction wasn't showing that I needed to remove the inner tub from the top. Once I did that I was able to tap the spindle out from inside the tub. So basically it was sandwiched in between the tub and the bottom portion where the stator was mounted.

Which now leads me to another problem and maybe ANOTHER THREAD...grrrr ! It all went back together just fine. But now after running the wash I noticed it's skipping minutes on the front panel indicator dial. It'll stop in mid cycle with an empty tub, nothing in it and show "OL" which means out of balance. The shocks are just fine, it's not out of balance because I can manually by-pass the "rinse-spin" and go to the "drain-spin" and it will run just fine. It's quiet just like new and spins just fine. It seems to be skipping minutes somewhere thus skipping cycles.

I'm away for the weekend and won't be able to check into it until Monday. So I'm searching for ideas and possibilities to check. Wondering if the stator has anything to do with it. Could a wire of snapped off while I was bolting it back up and creating this problem of skipping minutes and cycles ? It has to be a wiring issue now...lol

any more help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Anytime you replace any of the motor driven parts you have to re-calibrate the machine.

When you get back on Monday, Get your tech. data sheet out from inside the front panel and there is a step-by-step on how to do that.

Jake, the data sheet.. Your saying the front panel. Is that found by lifting the top back off/up and looking inside between the tub and the front ? Is this a sticker/decal of sort that's stuck on the inside ? Just wondering exactly where to look.

Thanks again for your help

Look in your console if its not on the inside front panel.

Your tech. data sheet should be the same as this one I'm attaching below.

Hello Jake, Thanks for the Data sheets which I printed out. Still baffled as to what is happening. I followed the guide DIAGNOSTIC TESTS and pressed and released the button for the 3 secs required. At the end the panel flashed and 88 showed (as suppose to). Then the display showed a C0 and a C1 then the tub began to fill with water. After that (filling up) it stopped and just sat there doing nothing. I had to shut off, then restart. At this point the timer showed 14 minutes and the dial indicator was on DRAIN AND SPIN and it began to drain and cycle ... I read and was lost as what I was to do next.. Grrrrr ! (head scratching)

Ok..back to the drawing board..lol.... any other suggestions as to what's next ?

Thanks

Thats odd, well now I'm stumped as well too. It wasn't doing this before you changed the bearing and tub seal was it?

No.. That's what is odd..Only thing it did before was run very loud and with water mixed with grease from underneath. Since it's been changed it actually runs (spins like new) without any water leak. It cycles thru as normal but when it gets to the "rinse and spin" it stops and shows the code "oL" and that's with or without a load. Then I can manually shut wash machine off, restart and move the dial to the "rinse and spin" and it will begin nomal, as if nothing was wrong....ugh..lol.. stumped!

Also when I perform the "3 sec press/hold and release test" after 88 appears the first code that shows up is F 81. I wait a few seconds then press the same button I was pressing before and this begins the "Automatic test" starting at C0 and cycles thru to C6 with no problem. Then oL appears on the screen without a load.. so that's making no sense..again I can manually go my without any further trouble.

That's very strange, I really don't know why its doing that now. You'll likely need to get Whirlpool to come out and see what's going on.
